Troop 416 was chartered in 1970 by the Saline Jaycees Club with a roster of six scouts. As the Troop grew, meetings were held at the Saline Senior Center and Jensen Elementary School.

In 1976, Troop 416 presented its first Eagle Scout Award. A decade later, with only eight scouts in 1985, the Troop was absorbed into Troops 446 and 457.

In 1992, with the other Troops growing over capacity, there was a need once more for another Saline Troop. Rechartered by the Saline American Legion, Troop 416 was reborn with boys under Scoutmasters Finkbeiner and Anderson. A year later, Bill Bell took the help as Scoutmaster bringing 416 to where they are today.

In 2008, Scoutmaster Mike Medvec assumed Troop 416 leadership and the Troop continues to grow and flourish with approximately 39 active Scouts and over 30 trained Adults. Troop 416 has presented over 75 Eagle Scout Awards since 1992.
